Oh, 2010 NFL Season, Can’t You Just Start Already?

This entire article may come off as me whining, but that’s what happens during the NFL offseason for an NFL junkie like myself.  So, in regards to your question, MNF, yes I am (that question being, “Are you ready for some football?” of course).

Hell, at this point I’d take the draft, and I’m not even a big fan of the NFL Draft.  I’m just tired of reading seven different mock drafts each day.

I just want to know whom the Bears draft so the roster can be true, and we can know whom we will be rooting for next season.

But, even after the draft, it’s still a good four months until the season actually starts.  And, I just don’t know if I can make it that long.

I want to know if Jay Cutler is going to step up in his second season as the Chicago Bears quarterback and stop throwing interception after interception.

I want to know if Devin Aromashadu can be the real deal and turn into the No. 1 wide receiver that the Bears so badly need.

I want to see if Julius Peppers can live up to his contract and put quarterbacks on their back, liven up our defense, and inspire the rest of the defense to live up to their potential/exceed it.

I want to see if Matt Forte can stop putzing around and actually break a big run.

Or, at least average four yards per carry for an entire season.

I want to see if Mike Martz will be any better than Ron Turner.

I want to see if the Bears will be smart enough to put Devin Hester back on punt and kick returns and let him be a “trick play” specialist on offense.

I want to know, once and for all, if Greg Olsen is the real deal.

I want to know if Brian Urlacher is ok and can be 80 percent of the old Brian Urlacher, which is still better than 100 percent of most of the middle linebackers in today’s NFL.

I want, no check that, I NEED to know all these things and more.  And, sitting around reading article after article from “experts” and bloggers alike isn’t going to tell me any of that.

So, please, 2010 NFL season, hurry up already.  Be here.  Before I know it, please.

Thanks.

Yours truly,

Scott Ottersen

Bears Enthusiast
