Drew, try not to relax too much during the off season. Unless your curling young Baylon a couple hundred times a day with your throwing arm.

You had better be in shape as your first game is against this old grizzled guy named Favre, who has not one, but two quality running backs ready, and a host of recievers used to Brett Favre and his bullet like passes.

The defenses appear to be close, so it will be the quarterback play and running game that will win this game.

Of course on the other hand, the Saints are at home, and will be defending the Super Bowl title with frenzied fans to support them, Brees wanting to show up the great Brett Fave, and six or seven running backs ready to play.

I will slowly handicap every NFL Game on the first week of the season in sixteen parts. Two per week.

This is probably the hardest pick of Week One.

The Saints will win this game at home. Home field advantage, pressure on the old man, and of course Drew Brees riddling the defense to start the season.

The Saints will be favored by some extra points because of being the Super Bowl champions, and you may get a good teaser price or a straight 8.5 points taking the Vikings.

If the line is less than a touchdown, take the Saints to cover as well.

In the second game, we have an intriguing match up between Detroit, certainly improving, and Chicago on a down slide from last season.

Matt Forte had a poor second season, compared to the blast-off rookie season he had, and of course there is a big mystery surrounding Jay Cutler and his development as a premier NFL quarterback.

Matthew Stafford will improve and play better I Imagine, plus decent draft picks now, and even last season will start to propel this team to perhaps 8-8 or 7-9 this season.

However, this is the Bears home opener in Chicago and If I was a defensive coach, I would want to hear the jolts and hits loud and clear from row 53.

The Lions will wear down in this game and lose in the second half. Bears by six points.

There’s your first two winners in the first week of the 2010 NFL season.

The first week I will go 14-2 easy. NFL Mikee at your service. Exit… stage right, even.

Thomas [NFL Mikee] Moreland
