The OVER is 7-1 in Minnesota’s last eight home games and 10-2 in Chicago’s last 12 road games. OVER bettors are on alert as the Vikings and Bears get ready to do battle Sunday at the Metrodome.

Point Spread: The Bears opened as 1.5-point favorites. The total was 49.5.

Odds Shark Computer Prediction: 25.2-19.0 Bears

Why the Bears Can Cover the Spread

Chicago has alternated wins and losses for the last six weeks, as Jay Cutler and Josh McCown have traded starts at quarterback. The Bears just lost at St. Louis, so if recent form holds, they should win this Sunday, right?

Chicago ranks eighth in offense and fourth in scoring at 27.5 points per game and now goes against Minnesota’s 30th-ranked defense.

Why the Vikings Can Cover the Spread

Minnesota just had to settle for a tie against Green Bay, but covered the spread as a five-point dog. The Vikes are 3-1 ATS over their last four games. Running backs Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart just combined for 237 rushing yards against the Packers and production like that takes a lot of pressure off QB Christian Ponder.

They face a Bears team that has struggled to a 1-6 ATS run in divisional games dating back to last season.

Smart Pick

The Odds Shark computer is predicting a Bears victory in a game that will play UNDER its total. This is a tough one. Chicago is still in the playoff hunt, while Minnesota is playing out the string.

However, the Vikings have actually shown some life recently while the Bears keep losing games they can’t afford to.

Take the team that will out-rush the other. In this instance, that looks like Minnesota.

Trends

  • The Bears are just 1-6 ATS in their past seven divisional games.
  • OVER is 10-2 in the past 12 Bears road games.
  • OVER is 7-1 in the past eight Vikings home games.
