Cutty did it.

Jay Cutler is using his celebrity and the power of Twitter to reach millions with his message: You can beat diabetes.

His campaign to raise money for children with diabetes was so successful Bears fans crashed his website on Thursday.

The Jay Cutler Foundation is selling t-shirts with the slogan “CuttyDoesIt.” Proceeds support the foundation, which is “dedicated to improving the quality of life for underprivileged children and those suffering from diabetes.”

Awareness about the shirts is raised via Twitter, as fans and followers tweet slogans incorporating #CuttyDoesIt.

In 2008 Jay was diagnosed with Type I diabetes, an incurable form of the disease requiring him to monitor blood levels and take insulin shots several times a day.

“The first thing I do in the morning is test myself to see where I am, and it’s the last thing I do before I go to bed,” Cutler said. “It’s a little scary sometimes, but it’s not like you have a choice. It’s part of your life, you know?”

So how does a quarterback help others with diabetes?

Cutler said, “I want to use my story to reach as many people as I possibly can with this disease—especially kids. I don’t want to just be a face. I want to be hands-on and make a difference. I think I got this for a reason. I know I have the opportunity to help change lives. I definitely want to have an impact and inspire kids with the message that diabetes doesn’t have to stand in the way of achieving their own goals in life.”

Anyone who’s seen Cutler get pummeled behind Chicago’s offensive line the past few seasons knows he’s used to dealing with pressure and obstacles.

So what happened when his website overloaded and was knocked down by Bears fans eager to buy t-shirts and support the foundation?

Within hours, service was made available at another site. And his own site was restored the next day, proving that whether he’s on the field or helping his foundation, there’s no quitting.

Because Jay knows that for children with diabetes quitting isn’t an option, either.

That’s why #CuttyDoesIt.
