The Chicago Bears signed LB Pisa Tinoisamoa—formally of the St. Louis Rams—today to a one year contract.

First reaction: ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!  Hell yes. This move finally proves that Angelo’s signing of Cutler was not just a mirage.

With respect to Nick Roach and Hunter Hillenmeyer, Pisa comes in and immediately improves the linebackers corps. As a strong side linebacker, he can run with any tight end in the league and he is a reliable tackler. Shoot, he led the Rams in tackles four out of the past six years, the man knows how to wrap up.

Let me spell it out for you: Briggs, Urlacher, Tinoisamoa. Questions?

Second reaction: I hope he is a better pick up than the last former Lovie player. I know we all remember the infamous Adam Archuleta, and we all now how he turned out… COUGH.

But I am confident Pisa is not going to fall under that title. He was successful for a number of years, under a number of coaches. From all accounts he is hard working and tough. He has missed a total of twelve games in seven years. Archuleta was just useless after he left the Rams. Shoot, he didn’t even play that well his last year in St. Louis.

Something else to keep in mind is that if he works out this year, the man is only 27, he could be a consistent option at the strong side linebacker spot for another three years easy. If he doesn’t work out, that’s OK to because its a one-year deal.

God help me, but well done Jerry Angelo. I really like this deal. Now if only you made another try for a certain Arizona receiver…
