Fans may still be stinging from the loss against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game and the circus surrounding quarterback Jay Cutler during and after the 60 minutes of play.

While Cutler’s injury was definitely very odd and very untimely, it wasn’t the cause of the Bears‘ demise. No one should be worried about whether Cutler bowed out of the game or not—he was hurt and that’s the end of it.

We must now focus on the future and one of the most important parts of that future is Cutler.

He may not be the most likeable quarterback in the NFL—quite frankly, there are a lot of people that simply don’t like Cutler. They don’t care for his body language or the fact that he doesn’t appear to be “interested” in games.

It’s important that we realize that this is just how he is. As long as he does well and wins games, we shouldn’t fret about how he acts on the sideline.

Having said that, winning games has become something of a problem for Cutler at times during his career, despite the fact he has gotten better.

Cutler’s first season with the Bears was a virtual disaster as he threw interception after interception and provided more questions than he did answers. The Bears, as a result, failed to get into the playoffs and it appeared as if things weren’t going to change much for him or Chicago.

However, during the offseason last year, the Bears got their hands on offensive coordinator and mastermind Mike Martz, mostly because they needed someone that could work well with Cutler and mold him into the quarterback he should be.

While we shouldn’t have expected “great” results in Martz’s first season, we did get much more than we expected with Cutler and the Bears winning 11 games and getting to the NFC Championship game.

With a new season coming soon, there are many questions surrounding Cutler’s ability to lead this team to a Super Bowl.

Having seen what happened to Cutler in the NFC Championship game, there are certainly those that have their doubts.

However, everyone should realize that Cutler and the Bears could storm back to the front of the NFC North, rule the division again and get back to the NFC Championship game.

How can they do that?

So far this offseason, the Bears have managed to shore up part of their offensive line—something that’s important for Cutler, a quarterback that was sacked 56 times last season and missed a game and a half because of a concussion.

Their running game should also improve with this change, which will help take further pressure off Cutler.

If the Bears can find a decent receiver in whatever semblance of free agency there is, then this team could be poised for an even better offensive season than they had in 2010. Furthermore, another year of Martz’s offense under their belts is only going to do them good.

A lot of the issues that Cutler faced last season had a lot to do with their offensive line. If Chicago can get that shored up (for the most part), he will have a much better season. Giving him time to make throws should make Cutler and the Bears a much better team.

However, the question remains. Can Cutler lead the Bears to a Super Bowl?

If his protection is right and if the Bears solidify their receiving corps, it’s safe to say that Cutler could easily lead this team to a Super Bowl. They are close (and got close), they just need those small couple of things to get them over the top.

Do you think the Bears can go to the Super Bowl behind Cutler, or is he never going to be able to take the Bears to the big game?
