When does a win feel like a loss?
I don’t have a firm answer for that, but this might be a good example of one way.
Really, this was the defense’s day to shine, as they were the reason this was a victory.
It was way closer than it ought to have been, and certainly closer than the score indicates, as the offense for the Bears could not put the ball in the end zone for most of the game. Michael Bush was really the lone offensive player to see the inside of the end zone, and in general, Bush looked very good as the full-time replacement for the injured Matt Forte.
Still, overall, the offense could move the ball against a tough Rams defense, just not into the end zone, and St Louis just hung around.
It was a pick-six by Major Wright that was the real dagger for the Rams and again saved the Bears.
Sam Bradford went down six times, the defense held them to six points and the Bears still really needed a big defensive play to put the game away, as well as a great game from Robbie Gould.
It will be interesting to see how many hits Cutler took. He was sacked, and was under pressure quite a bit by the tough Rams front seven. He took multiple hits, but it’ll be interesting to see the reality of the number versus the perception.
Whether he was hit or not, he clearly feels the pressure, and it is affecting this offense.
