In case you didn’t know, this is the 25th anniversary of the great Chicago Bears Super Bowl team. This was more than a football team; it brought an entire city together, and—in fact—a nation, as almost everyone was enamored with the cast of characters that made up the 1985 team.

Culminating with a win in the Super Bowl in January, 1986, this Bears team had character, charisma and the ability to turn even non-football fans into screaming lunatics.

But it wouldn’t have mattered if the Bears hadn’t backed up their boast.

Ah, the Super Bowl Shuffle. “We’re so bad, we know we’re good, blowing your minds like we knew we would” might have blown up in their blushing faces had the Bears failed to win it all.

But they did win it all, and in the process captured the imagination of fans across the country.

Which brings us to the point of this article.

Allstate Insurance recently gave Bears fans the chance to relive the magic of the ’85 season and share their favorite memories through a series of “Call to Glory” events featuring pop-up “living rooms” around downtown Chicago.

This video montage will be featured as part of Allstate Glory Days, an ’85 Bears tribute event featuring Mike Ditka, Jim McMahon and other legends at the Arie Crown Theatre TONIGHT (Friday, Nov. 5).

It’s not too late to get tickets for tonight’s event. Go to http://www.glorydayschicago.com/GloryDaysWeb/tickets to purchase tickets.

But even if you cannot make it to Friday night’s event, go to http://www.glorydayschicago.com/GloryDaysWeb/watch to watch a video that includes some of the Bears talking about the glory days.

If this resonates with you, feel free to share with me your fondest memories of that magical season in the comments section below. Even if you weren’t old enough to have been a part of such a fierce and dominating run, feel free to share what you have heard and seen over the years about this team.

We all wish we had another title to celebrate, but it is what it is. However, even when the Bears do win another championship, it would be hard for me to believe that any team could match the excitement or personality of the ’85 Bears.

While some may consider it that we are still stuck on a team from so long ago, there is a valid reason. Not only were these Bears arguably the best defense of all-time, but there were a national phenomenon. Remember the old Saturday Night Live sketches?

So, whether you’re old or young, Bears fan or not, the ’85 Bears will live on in infamy. Enjoy!
