The bye week was good for Jay Cutler:

Bears‘ QB Jay Cutler finished the day 17 of 30, for 188 yards, two touchdowns and no picks. Pretty good considering the Bears went with a far more balanced run/pass ratio against the Bills on Sunday. One of Jay Cutler’s biggest issues coming into Sunday’s game was his distrust with the current pass protection. His pocket presence had been lacking, partially due to an overall lack of confidence in the offense. He was far more aware of the defense on Sunday and it allowed him to escape pressure and make plays. He continues to be the Bears’ most efficient rusher and had an average of 7.8 yards per carry on the day.

The Bears’ defense continues to come up big:

The Bears’ defense forced two interceptions and one fumble in Sunday’s win over the Bills. Julius Peppers continues to be a force against the run. The forceful pass-rusher has found a way to dominate the line of scrimmage despite being double teamed, helping to hold the Bills to just 46 yards rushing on the day.

The Bears’ backup left cornerback Tim Jennings has been a nice surprise this season. The ‘undersized’ corner plays with confidence and led the team in tackles vs. the Bills with nine, including one interception. Jennings looks to have a future in a starting role with the Bears’ secondary.

Earl Bennett is the Bears’ best wide receiver:

Wide receiver Earl Bennett had four receptions, for 52 yards and one touchdown on the day. It doesn’t go unnoticed that Bennett runs the best routes and could very well have the best hands of any receiver on the Bears’ offense. He’s easily the Bears’ most ‘complete’ wide-out. He’s excellent in the slot and likely the Bears’ top WR target in the end zone.

Isreal Idonije is making a case for his first Pro Bowl:

Although his numbers may not show it, Bears’ defensive end Israel Idonije was getting good pressure on Bills’ QB Ryan Fitzpatrick Sunday. He recorded 0.5 sacks and one blocked field goal on the day. And blocking kicks is something Idonije does well: in each of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons, Izzy led the NFL in blocked punts and field goals. He walked into today’s game leading the team in sacks (4.5), including two forced fumbles. He has blocked six kicks, three field goals and four extra points in his career. He ranks 4th all time in the stat. Israel came into Bears training camp this summer behind former Bears’ LDE Mark Anderson saying, “the competition is absolutely wide open.” He went on to say he had every intention of competing for the starting role.
